Frequently asked questions
What is Black Queen Scorer?
A mobile score tracker for bidding-based team card games. It replaces the pen-and-paper scoring sheet that one person always ends up maintaining on card nights. The app does not simulate card play — it handles scoring only.
Which card games does it support?
Any team bidding game where one player bids an amount, a team tries to win that bid, and the opposition wins if the team fails. Common examples: Court Piece, Rang (Trump), 29, Partner 29, Black Queen, and many regional variants.
How does the scoring math work?
On a win, the bidder's team gains +bid, the opposition loses -bid. On a loss, the signs reverse. Optionally, the bidder alone gains or loses an additional ±bonus. All totals are recomputed from the rounds list every time they are displayed — so editing or deleting a round always yields correct scores.
Does it work offline?
Gameplay works fully offline — all scoring data is stored locally on your device. An internet connection is only used to load ads and for the optional live-sharing feature.
How does live sharing work?
On any session's scoreboard, tap the broadcast icon. The app shows a QR code and an 8-character short code (XXXX-XXXX). Friends scan the QR or open the short link — no app install or sign-up on their side. They see the scoreboard update live as you record rounds. Sharing is opt-in per session; inactive sessions are purged after 30 days.
Does it show ads or collect data?
The app shows ads via Google AdMob, which may collect device identifiers and related data for ad delivery and measurement under Google's policies. Gameplay data (players, rounds, scores) stays on your device unless you opt in to live sharing for a session. No account system. See the privacy policy for detail.
How many players per session?
Between 4 and 12.
Can I edit a round after saving it?
Yes. Tap any round tile to edit the bidder, team, bid, or result. Totals recompute instantly.
Does the app cost money?
No. It's free on the App Store. Supported by ads; no in-app purchases.
What platforms is it on?
iOS 13 and later, Android 5 (API 21) and later.
Privacy, briefly
Your gameplay data — players, rounds, scores — stays on your device by default. Live sharing is opt-in per session; when you tap broadcast, only player names, rounds, and timestamps sync to a temporary session that anyone with the code can watch. No account system. Ads are served by Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers for ad delivery and measurement under Google's policies. See the full privacy policy.
